Ever just want to play a game that allows you to blast thousands of aliens? Now you can with the release of Alien Shooter from Big Fish Games.

Different from all other games on the Big Fish Website, Alien Shooter is also the most graphic and violent. So if you have young children you should keep them away from the game.



The graphics are excellent and the better the video card the better the game looks. I really like the fact that I can change the color of the alien blood from green to red. You are walking to each level avoiding aliens, collecting weapons and cash to build up a weapons cache of the next level.

While the game does remind me of the “Duke Nukem� or “Doom� type of game this one is a little better in terms of the challenge. As the level increases so do the number of aliens and the types also change. You have to be aware of the surroundings at all times and the pace is fairly quick.

A couple of small changes to the future releases. First to allow the game to be played in the “First Person Shooter� mode; rather than the current third person view. I think this would provide more control to the player as there was a few occasions where the movement was a little jerky.

Second change would be to allow the use of game pad controls instead of the mouse, as this would also enhance the game play as well. I found the game play to well worth the price of the application. Overall, I am not usually this type of game player but this one has me hooked.


The alien invasion has begun. Racing through offices, storehouses and mysterious labs, your mission is to clear the base at any costs.

The game has two playing modes: campaign and survival and two characters. With unlimited playtime, ten thrilling levels, 9 unique weapons; 6 types of monsters to defeat, high-quality music and ambient, being the last hope of humanity has never been so exciting.

Considering what a huge hit their existing titles have been for them, no one is more upset than Electronic Arts that The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy has finally ended. The games go on though and The Battle for Middle-Earth is a radical departure from the previous action titles, in that it's a real-time strategy game derived from Electronic Arts' hit Command & Conquer series.
As such the game simulates the entire world of Middle-Earth with designs based exactly on those from the movies. In fact enormous efforts have been made to make the game as cinematic as possible with numerous cut scenes and a cleverly streamlined interface. The latter not only makes the game look more visually interesting than other strategy games, with its huge animated map of Middle-Earth and game options only becoming available when you hover your mouse over buildings and units, but also makes sure it as accessible as possible for those unused to playing such games.

The graphics help too and the recreations of the battles at Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith, for example, really do look just like the films, with individual troops reacting realistically to the battle, with human soldiers hesitating in the face of huge trolls and balrogs or cheering and celebrating when defeating a band of orcs. So even if you're usually put off by this sorting of thing, thinking it either too complicated or boring, The Battle for Middle-Earth should appeal to just about everyone except confirmed Tolkien haters. --David Jenkins

For 2D purists, though, the gameplay still reigns, because to counter the two-plane design, Sammy and developer Arc Systems added a four-player mode that assures the "runner" only short-term safety. Matches can be set up as two-on-two, three-on-one or everyone for themselves.
That's just one segment of a title that offers a lot of gameplay under the hood. In addition to the standard Versus and Arcade modes, GG Isuka's creators also added a mode called GG Boost, which grafts the fighting action onto a side-scrolling structure. Boost should have some appeal to those more into action games.
The game features brightly colored characters and environments, though some will find it more than a little busy. The "loud" backgrounds also mean that key elements can be hard to read quickly while in combat--such as the arrow indicator above the character's head, which is important now that you have to press the R1 button to switch which direction you're facing.

The Forgotten Realms have inspired more than a few successful computer RPGs that come immediately to mind, the best including Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate. Demon Stone features a story from the mind of R.A. Salvatore, the author of several best-selling Forgotten Realms fantasy novels. The game appropriately treats its setting with respect, and fans should enjoy the plot. However, don't be fooled: Demon Stone is substantially different from its predecessors, a cross between an RPG and a straight-ahead brawler that is paralyzed by the ghoul of linearity.

In Demon Stone you'll guide three heroes -- a fighter, a rogue, and a sorcerer -- through 10 chapters situated in various locations throughout Faerun. Rannek the fighter excels in power attacks and defense. Zhai, a half-Drow rogue, can use the shadows to become invisible and execute deadly backstabs. The sorcerer, Illius, the game's main missile man, can fling spells from a distance and is absolutely vital to dealing with most bosses. Each are outcasts from their societies, and are guided by some unknown force into breaking the Demon Stone, a relic that imprisoned two powerful entities who are each capable of conquering Faerun. Rannek, Zhai, and Illius are tasked with finding a new Demon Stone and entrapping the pair again, a mission that will require kicking a LOT of monster ass.

If you've ever played Stormfront's The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Demon Stone plays in a very similar manner. Each of the game's 10 chapters are comprised of an assortment of fighting arenas: bad guys will pop up, and they'll need to be dealt with in order to proceed. The levels occur all over Faerun, and while most of them are relatively obscure locations, one of them couldn't be better known to fans of the Forgotten Realms. The battle for Mithril Hall in the frozen north is unforgettable, and allows players to take control of the beloved Drow, Drizzt Do'Urden.

Each arena is unique and has features that must be capitalized upon in order to cut the overwhelming odds facing the trio of heroes. For instance, in one fight, bridges have to be cut in order to prevent lots of reinforcements from entering the battle. In the fight for Mithril Hall, players have to dip their swords in flame before dispatching invading trolls permanently. Some levels have a lot of shadows that make Zhai a killing machine. Each character has a move meant to push foes back, which is handy if the area directly behind the foe happens to be a gaping chasm or a fireplace.

The game's presentation is topnotch. Most of the voice acting is excellent, and the score is stirring and dramatic. It took a bit of tweaking to get the game to work well on my system; the settings defaulted to the lowest possible resolution and refresh rate, which is downright unplayable. However, the graphics are beautiful, and there's so much eye candy going on in the background that you'll be hard pressed to concentrate on the foes you're supposed to be attacking. The motion capture is brilliant and fluid. I especially got a kick out of seeing Drizzt's special attack, which I swear could be the Drow's patented double-thrust low.
